YOUNGSTARS FOUNDATION PROFILE:
INTRODUCTION:
Youngstars Foundation (YF) is a non profit youth for youths based organization operating from Jos Plateau state Nigeria since 1996. From a weekly youth gathering in a barbing shop in 1995, YF have reached an estimated 50,000 youths in rural and urban Middle Belt Region of Nigeria on youth related issues, especiallyon HIV/AIDS through In-school Pep-talks and its popular TV program.
JUSTIFICATION:
Over the years in Nigeria, available data continues to suggest that youths are at the heat of most social problems in our society, for instance, records indicate a 10% HIV/AIDS prevalence among youths, an 80% abortion complications among teenage girls, increase of cultism in schools, growing female prostitution, youth unemployment, armed robbery etc. these are issues youths are concerned about and are committed to overcome through workable solutions that won’t create new problems, this is the challenge we are set on.
MISSION:
We are facilitating and cooperating with development interventions that enhance youth development for self-actualization and nation building.
OBJECTTIVES:
· research and documentation on youth in Nigeria.
· youth friendly ARH/AIDS programs.
· youth skill acquisition and macro credit.
· gender and child’s right.
· leadership development and good governance.
Our activities include seminars, camps, television programs, pep talks, community outreach, exchange programs, recreational etc.
MEMBERSHIP/ FUNDING:
Membership is open to all young people and organizations that identify with us. YF is funded through fees and membership dues, donation from corporate bodies, philanthropists and income generating activities.
MANAGEMENT:
YF is guided by its Constitution and operates an office coordinated by the Project Director and his team of volunteers.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW - 1996-2002:
· 1996, 1998, 2000 & 2001 – World AIDS Day youth programs in Plateau and Nassarawa states.
· 2000 & 2001 – Parents and Adolescent Forum, Plateau state
· 1996 till date – In school Pep-talks involving over 50 secondary schools in Plateau and Nassarawa states.
· 1998,1999 & 2001- Youth Perspectives TV program on NTA Jos.
· 2002- Facilitating LYNX-USA Youth Leadership Camp, Abuja Nigeria.
· 2002 – Hosting President of World Youth Alliance USA in Nigeria.
· 2002 – Hosting The Children’s Summit 2002,under WWSF global coalition to mark 2002 World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
· 2002 – COCIN Church/ PPFN CEDPA-Packard HIV/AIDS community rallies.
